Every summer I struggle with my creativity and keeping my blog going.  It’s a struggle for me to come home after work and sit down at my computer or spend a few hours on the weekend working on blog posts. I would rather be outside enjoying the weather than inside or looking at a computer. The weather is only nice for a few months and I want to enjoy as much as it as possible. For me, I feel so guilty being inside on a sunny warm day.

I was feeling pretty guilty earlier this week because I wasn’t creating and sharing all the content that I wanted. After talking it out with a girlfriend, I realized that it is ok to let my blog slide sometimes to enjoy summer.

This weekend I spent some time working on my blog and I’m so happy I did it! It felt so satisfying creating some of the content that I’ve been thinking about. Here are a few ways that I’m trying to get my creative juices flowing again:

Write more when ideas come to me  – I know that I’m more creative in the mornings so even if I take 10 minutes to quickly write out my ideas I’ll have a list to reference in the future. I also downloaded a calendar widget for my blog and I’ve been writing out quick headlines and outlines for myself when I come up with good ideas. The outlines really help, it makes it so much easier for me to create and formulate a post when I need to.

Embrace creativity when it comes –  I’ve talked about how creativity comes and goes from me here but it’s something that I have to remind myself. It is ok that I don’t feel creative all the time but when it comes me, I welcome it with open arms! I always have a notebook with me so when I get an idea I can write it down if I’m not on my computer.

Forgive myself and let go of expectations – This is by far the hardest.  It’s important to remember that I started to blog to have fun, not to make money. I didn’t sign a contract with anyone saying that I have to post 5 times a week or do certain things. Letting go of these expectations takes such a burden off me and makes creating content fun again!

Alright, that’s all I’ve got today! In other news my dress is sold out but I’ve tagged a few similar ones. I’ve decided that this year is all about finding and wearing styles that are flattering on my body and this dress is everything right now!
