City Guide: West Town, Chicago

West Town Chicago Neighborhood Guide

Every time I think about how I’ve been living in Chicago for over 9 years I still pinch myself. It’s been such a fun ride and I’ve loved living in the city.  To give you a quick context when I first moved here I lived in Lincoln Park then Old Town, Wrigleyville, Boystown, Lakeview, the South Loop and finally in West Town. My fiancé and I have been in our West Town apartment for a little over 2 years and it’s the longest I’ve lived in one apartment in Chicago!

I’m partnering with today and to take you around our neighborhood and share my local’s guide to West Town.  West Town in the area between West Loop, Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village. Without further ado, here are some of our favorite local spots:

5 Star – This is a biker bar on Chicago Ave. They have the best Buffalo Chicken sandwich and an amazing beer selection. About once a month hundreds of bikers come to the bar and park their bikes outside. It’s wild to see so make motorcycles in one spot!

Noble Grape – Our local wine shop. They have a great selection but most of their wine is between $15 and $25.

West Town Bakery – No neighborhood guide would be complete without a bakery, and this is by far the best one in our neighborhood!

Steve’s Flower Shop – This is the shop we go to for a bouquet of flowers. We love how easy they are to work with, we give them a budget and one or two flowers we want added and they make beautiful arrangements.

Some other notable places in are neighborhood are Big Shoulders Coffee, Flo, Twisted Spoke, G&O, Root’s and Nini’s Deli. Another reason we love this neighborhood is because it’s so easy to get around the city. It’s in close proximity to the train and ton’s of bus routes!

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about my neighborhood of West Town. Learn more about and their neighborhood guides here.
